The 2017 Embassy Pairs competition proved to be a great success in it's second year of reintroduction to the snooker section programme. Sixteen pairs (twelve last year) took part in competition over six weeks. Competition was close amongst the top eight pairs with favourites Ceri Worts and Greg Croudis romping away with the title with 23 out of 24 wins. John Davis and Alan Straker won the 'B' section with 18 wins and were also runners-up over the whole competition. Brian Stewart/Paul Shepherd ('C' grade) and Ray Barrett/Sue Davis ('D' grade) were the other section winners.

The field was also divided into 4 drawn teams from the 4 graded sections. The team competition went right down to the wire with a threeway tie after the last game on the final night. On count back The 'Spades' team (Ceri Worts/Greg Croudis, Gary Wearing-Jones/Pete Smythe, Gary Hildyard/Colin Currie, and Tom Takimoana/Ross Payton) won from 'Diamonds' team (Bill Pickthall/Graham Henderson, John Davis/Alan Straker, Leo Jeremiah/Steve Davies, and Ray Barrett/Sue Davis).
